HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Oh my gosh do my house smell good this morning! Tonight starts the celebration of the Jewish New Year or as my family likes to say, another round of eating!! My Sweet-n-Sour Brisket is in the oven cooking, my Chicken Soup is souping and my hard boiled eggs are cooked so I can make Chopped Liver. It's going to be a small group tonight. Larry & Family are in Orlando, except for Justin who has school, but he has to work tonight and will come tomorrow night. That leaves just Evan to join Barry & I, along with the in laws! If you're a small army and happen to be in the Dallas area, feel free to join us. I have cooked enough food!

 

I made this card last week with some new toys. I was looking around at my garden of Prima flowers and found a few bottles that had grey flowers. I was so happy to have them to add to this card and the big brad was a find that I got when I went to the big scrapbook show in June with my friend Gretchen. We always find fun stuff to buy! Like there is any other kind of scrapbook stuff that's not fun!!

I'm happy to say that I sold all but one card over the weekend on ebay. That makes my paypal account happy. I need to build that little baby up some for new things to play with. I have new SU stuff coming this week from a new order. Oh yea, that's what I call fun!

Fall Days???????

 

I'm sure it's going to be Fall before you know it! I'm so sure it's going to be fall, I think I'll put the bathing suits away---ok, maybe just in the drawer! Well it's Sunday morning in the Zoo. Yes the TV is on and on LOUD again. My FIL won't buy a hearing aid. He's 90 after all and who needs to hear. My MIL says hers bothers her ears! She's on her third. They aren't any good---so the TV is LOUD! And it's only 9 AM!!! She's already done the wash and emptied the dish washer from last night already, too. HELP ME! We are suppose to go out and get bunch but that means we have to get them to get dressed and that means moving! I don't mean to sound bitter, I just want my own space back. My junk is growing under my desk. I can't afford to take the two weeks off from making cards, but I sure wish I could just pack it away and forget it for now. Oh well, Friday will be here before you know it!

I hope everyone has had a great weekend. Our weather is really pretty and we're suppose to have some cooler weather soon. I wish the grass would stop growing soon. Oh yea, the weeds too! They are growing like weeds! (Small Joke)

Sophie is dancing her way into my heart! Another Hanna Rubber Stamp! A PORTION OF THE PROCEEDS FROM THE SALE OF THIS STAMP WILL GO TO THE KELLY LAUDE CANCER FUND. Check it out---it's for a good cause! One of these cute little moose stamps is never enough and I'm living proof of that! This time she's dancing with Bella Rose paper and some prima flowers! I added some glitter for her tutu.

The in laws visit is going as well as can be expected. I try and hide as much as possible. It would work better if my studio wasn't currently in the middle of the living room. Barry got up at 6 this morning to drive Larry & family to the airport. They're off to Disney for the next 10 days and they didn't want to leave their car at the airport. Costly! I got up when he left, turned on the lights in the living room and started to work. NO NOISE, NO ONE looking over my shoulder! Lasted for an hour and then Barry was home and in "need" of breakfast!

I'm sure we're not doing anything much today. We're been going out during the day for the past few and my FIL is getting very tired. He is 90 after all, so I guess we'll just hang out in the house today. My MIL is the kind of person who always wants to be busy with a task. I don't think she understand how I create. I work, take a break, work a little more, maybe take a NAP (brain gets sleepy) and then maybe work a little more! She can't understand this of course. I've made about 8 cards this week so far and she keeps saying "that's all you've done?"! They all went on ebay last night. One got sold this morning. Check them out if you want. I think my nap time is over. Barry is sleeping in our room right now and Annette is cleaning a pot she burned two days ago, so I better go and see what I can do now. Have a fun weekend and stay safe!!

Is It Fall Yet?

 

It's 90 today. Can this be fall? I guess it's Fall in Texas! If you get up at 6 or 7 in the morning, it's not too bad, but it's still warm in the afternoon! Oh well, I'll sure we'll be wishing for this nice warm weather come January!!

The in laws are still here and kickin'! Today is MIL's birthday and we're going out to dinner at Olive Garden instead of me cooking again. I cooked the last two nights and that's enough for me. I've cooked more food in those two days then in the last two weeks! I have been up early every day to try and work on some cards. This is one I made yesterday. I used some new fall paper that we got at the Christmas preview party we went to a few weeks ago at the local stamp store. The stamps are from Lizzie Anne. I must have a "thing" for scarecrows because I now will have at least 4 sets! I ordered the new one from the SU holiday mini. It's a must as well!

Not much else is new in the Bloom Zoo household. Barry went to 3 job fairs yesterday and still no job. He did get a few leads, but they don't mean a thing. He is hitting a low point right now I think. He hasn't checked his emails in two days, knowing that nothing is going to be there. Don't worry, I still check for him, but he's right---nothing new!

Well, I'm off to do something fun, like cut my wrist or something!! Have a good day!!

A Darling Pair of Chicks

 

Who knew that chickens would make such a cute holiday card? ME. ME, ME! The images are from Pink Poison and you really need to run over to the site and check out the stamps! I colored the image with my blender pen and ink pads. I'm lazy and didn't want to get up and get the refill bottles, so I just used the blender pen directly on the ink pad and then the paper. The flowers were stamped in the new Red Riding Hood ink and cut out. A little glitter goes a long way!

The in laws came last night and things are going along just "dandy". I got up early to work this morning and that is going to have to be my plan for th coming days. I do have some news to share. This will be my last month creating wonderful cards for Marie at Pink Poison. I really need to start on holiday cards and because it's such a big undertaking for me, I need every minute to work on those. It's been a great opportunity to work with another new stamp company. This was my third and each and every one has been great.

It's A Guest Room Again!

 

I boxed, hide in closets, and squirreled away so many things in oder to get the beds back in the room and make sure they had a VERY small space to hang their clothes up in the closet, and now I don't know where anything is!! My kids came over yesterday to give us a present for our anniversary and Madelyn was all eyes! You know how much she love to create with Grandma, and since it was in the living room again, it called to her! We'll be getting her after school this week so she can see her Great Grandparents, I told her she could play then!!

We went to Logan's Steak House for dinner last night. It was so good and it was nice not to rush home to see the new shows on TV yet! Now next week will be a different story. You can only record so many on the DVR! We didn't exchange gifts or even cards last night. I told Barry I didn't even want to make him a card. I know he understood I wasn't in the right frame of mind to celebrate much of anything. HE's still without a job and he hasn't even gotten any calls about interviewing either. It's as if the job market in Dallas died!! Wednesday their is a Senior Job Fair for over 50 and I've told him to GO!! Our savings is not being saved at all anymore. Now really wasn't a good time for his parents to come, but at 90 and 85 what is the RIGHT time!!

I can't believe this card hasn't sold on ebay this week. I just think it's so cute and if it doesn't sell again today, it's into the MIL pile of cards. She told me she NEEDS birthday cards! She always has a NEED for more cards!

38 Years & Counting Today

I don't know where the years have gone, but today is our 38 anniversary! WOW! Who knew if would last this long! Barry was that skinny guy with black rim glasses an a Army uniform and I was that skinny young beauty! Ok, he was in service and I was alot skinner! We went to the NY mountains for our honeymoon and it turned out that because it was September, there was only 5 couples on their honeymoon and the place didn't gear much for the "young & in love" group at that time of the year. Now, all these years later, I think I'd love to go back and just do nothing!! We left after a few days and spent the rest of the week with my sister in NY and had a great time. Life was grand in 1970 if you were young and in love, not to mention poor! Just look how far we've come. Two kids, two grandkids, we've owned two houses and 4 cats along the way! Some years, not to mention days, have been good and some have been bad, BUT, I've always known Barry loves me and I love him, even if there are those days we don't like each other!! He will always be my rock and my biggest fan in what ever I chose to do and I try and make the most of his choices.

Today he had two choices. Go and work in the re-opened Red Cross Shelter or go to the ChallengeAir. Challenge Air is a program that takes young people on flights over the city in private planes that have special needs. Sometimes the pilots have special needs as well. The Lions have been very involved in helping out for many years and so that was what Barry chose to do today. I still have lots of cleaning up to do, but it seems to get done a whole lot faster without him under foot. I'm sure you girls can understand that!

Well, I'm off to finish the guest bathroom. I got my "guest" room finished this morning. Lots of stuff was moved to the living room, top shelves, and into Barry's office space. After all these are HIS parents!!

MIA

Just wanted to let you wonderful readers that I will be missing for a few days. I'm trying so hard to move my studio out of it's room right now. I have the beds coming on Friday from the rental center so I MUST be able to get my room packed up and moved! I really started yesterday getting stuff in boxes and moved out. I can't find my desk and I have about a million rolls of ribbon is boxes. Why do I have so much ribbon???? I think that's a question for the ages! I do have a few cards to share today and hopefully I'll be back to making something by the weekend. Hugs to you all and have a blessed week!

 

The Countdown

Yes, we are counting down the day until my in-laws come to visit. Not to mention the days I have until I give up my studio...oh well, I guess it's for a good cause! I'm trying to clean up again today. I got a little done yesterday, but Barry did point out---bless his heart---that I have a mess in my happy room!! This card is results of some of that mess!

 

You like? I was looking for a piece of ribbon to use on this card and found a VERY small piece of the black gingham. Now how to use it was the question I asked myself. Oh yea, I ask myself questions all the time, AND I answer them too! If I added a small border of black to the verse was the answer!! A Verve verse and My Mind's Eye paper. Some Prima Flowers and gems that I found in my stash make this a very pretty card, I think anyway!
