Getting Over the Hump Day

It is Wednesday and that means it's Hump Day, so now all I have to do is make through today and then take each day as it comes! I find that's the hardest thing to do when Barry is still waiting to hear about any jobs. I usually get up early in the morning so I have some peacefull time to myself and I find that helps me. I've always liked my own space and time and it seems the older I get the more I enjoy it. I can have my coffee in peace and without anyone asking about food! Barry did have one nice call last night from his old boss to let him know that one of the companies he's waiting to hear from called yesterday to check on his resume. Maybe it doesn't mean a darn little thing or maybe it does. There is just know why to know anymore. We have so many friends of both of us who are either out of work or just hanging on to jobs. And President Bush still thinks things are Rosey!!

A/C Is Working!

You just don't know how hot it can get when the A/C is broken! Our little switch problem returned last night. It's the same one that Barry said three weeks ago he could fix himself. This time he said he was afarid he'd mess up and we called the repair guy to come. I wasn't mad at him that he didn't do it, I was mad he said he could and then changed his mind! If he had said that when it happened, I would have called the repair man then!! MEN!

Nothing in the job front. We're just hanging in there hoping and waiting. Maybe something this week. We went for a ride on Friday and Barry took me to a LSS that I'd never been to before. I was a pretty good girl and only bought a few new playthings. I did buy some ink dubbers. I got pink and green, but I should have bought a few more. They are on my list of "needs". I colored some chipboard in a spilt second!!

Anybody that knows me, knows I'm not a big cake stamp fan, but this new set from Pink Poison is just darling. It has several different cake stamps and they size is really good. I've tried some with bigger cakes and they were just too big to work with, but these are the perfect size!! I was looking at my HUGE pile of papers on my desk for the "right" pieces for this card and believe it or not, every piece of this card was from things arlready out there. I just recut the circles from bigger ones already cut. The printed paper was a scrap peice and even the ribbon was in the scrape pile. I think this is a perfect card to thank someone for the birthday gift they sent!!

I'm hoping my new SU order was placed this weekend by Gretchen and now I just have to wait. I ordered the Bella Rose paper and I can't wait to play in that pile. I'm also hopeing to get my Verve stamps that I broke down and bought this week too. Now to find the time to play with it all!!

Have a dry day. We have lots of rain today and more on the way. We can use it.  

Never Enough Cupcakes

Don't you just love cupcakes?!~! Pink Poison has this new set that is so cute! Check them out. I wanted something that could be used for girl or guy as a birthday card so I chose this paper from Inque Boutique. I punched the stars out of some of the new colors of SU cardstock. I love the blue!

Not much new at the Bloom Zoo. We are headed over to Larry's saturday night to celebrate Justin's 18th birthday! I can't believe he's going to be that old, with such a young Grandma! We get to bring dessert. Something fun to eat!

Barry is off to a job fair today, but I'm sure he'll be calling anytime to say he's on his way home and NO he didn't meet anyone who has a real job. It's the same old story, just a different day. I am trying hard to keep up his spirts as well as my own. It helps when I have a few mintues to myself. It's a good thing I like my own company so much.

Sweet Cupcake

Yes, you guessed right, it's a cupcake! Sweet, huh?!~  You know I really enjoy paper piecing and making this card from the new Cupcake Set from Pink Poison was perfect! I dug out a pad of Basic Grey papers and stamped my cupcake on several different prints and then just glued them down to the image that I stamped on a piece of white cardstock. The only thing I chose to pop up was the cherry on top. A few Prima flowers and it's the perfect card. Now to find a perfect person to send it to.

You know the saying, when it rains, it pours? Well, that's how today was. Nothing, and I mean nothing new on the job front, but then today Barry's car started having some problems with his brake lights. It turned out it isn't the $100 problem, more like the $700 problem! Needless to say we passed on having it fixed today. He's going to have to wait on that for a while! I put my wish list on hold from the new Stampin Up catalog too. It's just not the time for me to be spending my hard earned card money on stamps or new paper. I just keep saying how wonderful it will be when I can place an order. Something to look forward to.

Barry is out to a Lion's meeting tonight and I'm just taking it easy. My allergie's seem to be acting up this week. It's been a few days and today seems the worse. Something in the air besides the heat! We're suppose to have some rain tonight so maybe that'll help my poor eyes.

We met Evan's new girlfriend today. Barry and I went to add water to Evan's fish tank and while we were there she came "home" to lunch from work. She works at the same place. Evan is away in upstate New York visiting my little sister and her family this week. She's a very cute girl and very nice. Evan said she was staying over the weekend at this place, but I guess she can come and go as she wants...she has a key! My big sister who is also in upstate visiting them promised to get all the dirt on what's happening with the romance!

Hugs to all and keep me and mine in your thoughts. It's sometimes hard for me to make it through the day without your good wishes.

Yea, It's Sunday

I have no idea why I'm so excited it's Sunday. It's like any other day at our house. Barry is sleeping later today then usual, so I guess I can say Yea to that! I've had hours to myself, except for the Ant problem I had to take care of in the kitchen sink, but I haven't done one darn thing yet! I did put together a wish list order from the new SU catalog, and that took a long time! I really need to get a life! Oh and yes, I need to wash the floors and the clothes, cook some food and maybe make a card or two. But hey, it is Sunday and the Lord said I should give thanks and rest...didn't he!

A second card from Pink Poison. I just love all the veres that come with this set. Anyone who knows me, knows I have a large collection of "saying" stamps! This time I used the bird on a branch and stamped him on the new Kiwi Kiss SU cardstock. I also did the flowers the same way.

I'm off to see what damage I can get into in my studio. Folks who have seen the mess know that I could easly hurt myself if I'm not careful in my studio, so it's really no joke. Barry did remind me that his parents will be here in less that two months, so I really need to start cleaning up in there. Ya, right!!

It's All About The Pink Poison

I hope the title got your attention enough to take a look at this new stamps company called Pink Poison. Marie, the wonderful owner of this new company, sent me the three sets to try out and let me tell you, they are wonderful! The stamps are red rubber and mounted on foam, so all you have to do is cut them out and ink them up! This is the first card I made yesterday using the Dream Quotes set. It also includes several other verses and a beautiful bird. Check back tomorrow for the bird!

Now, I have to go back and watch some more of the "games"! Have a great day!

Imagine

Imagine what we can be if we try! Words to live by when I first heard them and more so now. Aren't artist dreamers, can't we imagine what we want the world to be? Maybe we can imagine only our own world, but as Martha says "that's a good thing"!

I made this some a few weeks ago when I was just playing around. Oh yea, I'm just usually playing around in my studio. Do you have a plan when you sit down at your desk? Usually I don't or maybe just an idea or even some paper I NEED to use, but I'm not much of a planner. I don't carry around notebooks full of ideas. I wish I did, but I'm sure I'd loss the book somewhere between my table and my purse. I do have lots of sticky notes around my desk. That seems to work for me. Now if I could only remember to label them so I won't look and say "what was I thinking"!

Last night we went to my friend Gretchen's house. I got a most welcomed email from her yesterday to say the new SU catalog was in!!!! And just because our hubbies like to eat dinner most evenings we had to find a way to take care of both at the same time. Fred picked up pizza and Gretchen and I opened the box of catties. It's a very pretty book and I will say I liked it better then the last, but crazy about it---NO. There were a few stamp sets I would like to buy, but mostly the printed paper held my interest more. Maybe I've become jaded about SU. I've found so many new stamp companies out there and they have stamps that seem more updated, newer, and fresher. That said, I'll have no problem ordering enough to get my hostess gift. Let's see, 9 new packs of paper, 6 new stamp pads and a few sets....

To The Moon & Beyond!

Yesterday was my little girl card, today is my little guy Lizzie Anne card. Isn't this out of this world???? I really like the little green. I think I remember meeting someone that looked just like that back in my party days!! The paper is from a pad I got on vacation in Florida. It's from Inque Boutique. Perfect for little boys of any age!

Another hot day in Dallas. Only 107 or so today. We were out and about early doing our errands and now it's time to stay inside. Maybe when it cools off we can swim at the pool. We had a great time with friends at brunch yesterday. Barry ate his way through it, as always! Man does not miss too many meals! He finally sold something on ebay today, so that at least made him happy. After I listed the stuff for him, he repacked it and added some more to the box. Yes, you're right, the shipping was off!! It ended up that I made about .50 on the whole deal because of it! At least we have one less box of junk in the garage now. They were old 8-track tapes! Not a big market for them, to say the least!

Nothing in the job front, but he's going to a big tech job fair on Wednesday. If nothing else, I'll some time to myself. Thursday night in a meeting---no cooking for me! That's my week. I might take a break in making cards for a few days. It's hot and I want to try and make some sense of my studio. NOT an easy task. I'm waiting for the new SU catties to come to Gretchen's house, so my whole plan MAY go out the window. Doesn't that come first before anything?????

Get Along Little Doggie

I'm sure I could think up a few more "western" ditties, but this one will do! Customers have been asking for more cards for kids and since Lizzie Anne came out with a few new one's I couldn't resist. This card is make with the new cowgirl set! It's so fun and fresh looking. I did lots of coloring on this girl and almost no layering. Only the hat is layered. However there are many layers of paper and card stock on this card, both inside and out! 

I used a pad of paper called Travel from Making Memories that I found while in Target sometime ago. I liked the look of the worn stripe but wanted a little "girlie" look so I added the print from the pad. Even the polka dot I used in the inside was among the papers. I'm very happy with the way this card turned out. I used a layout found over at SCS a week or so ago.

We're off to have brunch with friends this morning. It's the best meal of the day. Brunch that is! We've eaten at the place before, but only for dinner, so I'm hoping it's just as good. We don't have any other plans for the day. It's going to be 107 so I think we'll stay inside. Yesterday we went to Ilea and I picked up a few packages of jars to hold more buttons. I notice I use the ones on my desk that are already in jars more then anything else. Now to figure out where to put them!

Excitement is Building

All I can say is WOW to some of the new things I've seen that are coming in the newest SU catalog. I've been glued to SCS and some other blogs for the last several days to check out as much as I can. I love all the new designer papers. They all look good to me. I haven't seen that many new stamp sets, but there is always something I need to HAVE!

I also heard from Marie at Pink Poison that she will be shipping me her new stamps early next week. I can't wait to play with new stamps. You're going to love them when you start seeing the samples.

Has anybody seen online any place that has the new Basic Grey yet? Boy oh boy, I can't wait to get my hands on that stuff either. Let's face facts, there isn't too many of us that can resist new products when they come out! That's what has made the craft business so fun in the last several years!

Sharing a pretty little card I made sometime this week. Had to try and use up some of that Basic Grey I've got growing in my studio don't I? I added a fun stamped verse from SU and lots of Prima Flowers. I just love adding the pearls to cards. They give every card an elegant look! I have this big package of chipboard shapes I bought at HL sometime in the Spring and just opened them to see what I could use. I found the heart. It's stamped in SU white craft ink and then I stamped over that with SU floral back round stamp in Pink.

Nothing new on the job search except there does appear to be more jobs in the market place this week then last. Barry applied for 6 or 7 jobs that had postings this week compared to 3 last week. I hope that's a good sign. You know it's looking bad when we start searching for "signs"! Oh well, whatever works, I guess!
