Yesterday Barry was gone all day at a training session for Red Cross volunteers so that they would be able to go to the shelters and help out. He will be gone all day tomorrow when they open the shelter in our own town. Dallas is a stopping point for some of the folks coming in from the Gulf. I pray we do not need all the help that will be their, but I am grateful that it is.

While Barry was away, I got some stamping time in. I created several cards and thought I'd show you one or two day. That way I can save the others for another day!! Enjoy them and say a pray for the people in the coming days of the storm area's.

My new Sugar Nellie's came from Scotland! Can you say cute? For the back round I used a few different pieces from the newest Basic Grey. A few Prima flowers and some brads with ribbon and you have a pretty fun card! I just listed a bunch of new works on ebay, so I hope folks think they are nice too! I have a link at the bottom of my favorite places to shop if you'd like to see any of my little works of art.

The second card was made using an old friend SU set of stamps. When it first came, I used it time and again, but now I've moved on, but I thought I'd give it some love again! The verses is from Verve stamps.

WOW! Friday Again

It seems like everyday could be Friday with Barry home all the time, but in truth, thankfully it's not! After losing so much sleep in the past three weeks between watching the Games and then the Convention, I think I need a weekend to wind down! I know not everyone out there agrees with my views, and that's ok, but last night was a night to remember for a long time. It really seemed like a night to pass the mantle of leadership to my own son's generation. Remember I'm a child of the Sixties and we believed that anything was possible and still do. I believe that hope has now been passed to my own children and to the next generation! What an election this will be and now a woman has been added to the McCain ticket as well. While I'm sure she's a fine woman, I won't be voting for her. Every view that matters to me, is different then my own beliefs, but I am proud that in this country anything is possible!

Guess what came in the mail this week? New rubber from CHF. What a darling little birdie set! I couldn't wait to play. This card is made using My Mind's Eye printed paper along with a fun Prima flower and LOTS of buttons! I wanted something to fill the right top corner so I added an image from Verve Stamps.

Have a wonderful Labor Day weekend. We are laying low with money even tighter then before since we had to buy a new battery for Barry's car this week, so enjoy the time with your families and stay safe!!

Neat Layout

I love how this card turned out. I used the Dream Quotes set from Pink Poison. This set is a dream to use with three separate verses. I found this paper in a pack from DCWV and looked for way to use it. The flowers were already on the card and made a perfect embellishment. I had lots of scraps of the blue card stock so I trimmed it down and added some brads. The punches are from Stampin Up double corner punch.

I got three new sets of stamps from Pink Poison today and can't wait to play. I know you'll NEED to have them too! Be sure to check out the  blog site for contest fun! You could be the winner of brand new rubber!!

We have been busy watching the Democratic convention this week and I am so proud of my country in how they have come together to this point. I know American's will do the right thing in November and vote for a Change in the Direction of our country!

He's Creepy & He's Spooky...

When I saw this die cut guy, the first thing I thought of was the Adam's Family Theme Song!

I got this charming guy yesterday at M's. He was only .99! And that included the two bats! I know, what a deal. Even though Halloween cards don't sell very well, I still think they are so fun to create, so I do. I added some back round stamping with a large SU stamp in black and the spooky is from Hedi Swapp.

Yesterday was .50 Tuesday at the Dollar Movie, so of course we had to go. This week we saw The Hulk. If that doesn't get you in the mood for Halloween, nothing will! Strange movie, but hey, it was only .50!

There is nothing new on the job front. Nobody returns calls or emails. Nothing happens with all the resume's he sent along. Someone Barry used to work with at his last job sent an email this morning to say he's going to be out of his job VERY soon. They bought that man in from NY and told him he would become a permanent employee as well. The Big Lie!

I think we're off to Alberston's today. They have lots of good sales. It's pretty sad that is the way we pass the time right now. It's always true that when you have the time to travel, you don't have the money and when you have the money, you don't have the time! That is the Bloom Family in a nutshell!!

Takin' A Ride, Takin' A Ride...

If you remember that old song, you are like fine wine! When I sat down to add this post to my blog I was trying to think of a title to this post and that song just came to mind! Forgive an old mind for wandering! Barry is out tonight for a Lion's Club meeting and I'm trying to work on DT cards. I have NEW stamps on their way as we speak, so I'm hurrying to finish up with August stamp sets. Picture to follow tomorrow.

Isn't Riley too cute! These little guys are just a hoot to work with. I found the haunted house stamp at M's for a $. I stamped it on orange cs and then added a little black to finish it up. I dug my Martha bat punch out from last year and added some eyes. I know it's hard to tell, but I ran the purple cs through the CB. It's the one with the "wood" texture. The paper is from a pad of DCWV from J's on sale.

Touch of Fall

I am so happy with the way this card turned out, even if no one on SCS leaves a comment. I dug right into my new Basic Grey instead of hording it this time and found the yummies papers around. The stamped images are from Lizzie Anne. I found this ribbon in my stash that I had gotten last year from Lindsey at her Jacksonbell store.

Barry took me to the LSS yesterday afternoon and I bought some of the new Bo Bunny Christmas line of paper. Lots of pink and blues, with some green in the mix. Now to find the perfect stamp for them. We were glued to the TV last night, again, watching the Olympics until the wee hours of the morning. Those two weeks passed in a hurry. Now on to the Democratic National Convention.

Well, as the rabbit says "that's all folks"! 

No Doubt In My Mind

You may have noticed the change in my banner at the top of my home page. There is a reason and that is because I wanted to leave no doubt that I am a Democrat! I'm 58 years old and back in the day when you had to be 21 my first vote was cast for McGovern. Can you say I'm a die heart Liberal? Maybe, and there are times I'm not happy with how the party has changed, but I am proud of what our party stands for and who will be our next President!!

Below is a new card I made this week using the best of the best new Basic Grey papers. I think the company has out down it self with these new collections. They all go perfect with the new SU colors!! The stamp is also new from Verve. I know I've said this before, but I really never have enough verses. Because I cut the card a little too skinny, I had to make adjustments to size of the grey panel. I trimmed off the sides of the scallop edge and it worked perfect. A few bright Prima Flowers and it's a GO!

No big plans for the weekend other then to watch the games on TV and try and get some stamping done. It's still hot in Dallas, but we did have a few days of cooler weather and that was a nice break. The kids go back to school next Monday so I want to get up early on Monday and see my Little Maddy off to Kindergarden!! Grandma's can do those things without having to worry about how the crying looks!!

The Big Day!

This post is for all those folks who don't think I update my site enough, which of course is because I have a REAL LIFE! Sorry, I just needed to get that out of my system today. Someone unscribed to my site this morning because I didn't update enough!

Yesterday was such a fun time for our family. Our little granddaughter was the center of our  world and she made the most of it. The first picture is with her pretty, pretty Grandparents. The second is with her graduating class. Enjoy and have a good day!

Riley is Feelin' Lucky!

I think Riley the Cowboy is feeling lucky today and I'm hoping that luck rubs off on the rest of us! Barry is still in the running for the job he applied for last week. They say they are still checking his resume. What more do they need to know? He's been in the IT field for over 40 years!!!! I'm only going to think good thoughts today, I'm only going to think good thoughts today! This afternoon we are going to Madelyn's Pre-K graduation. She's off to the regular school on Monday. Those 5 years have passed way to quickly. She's not our little baby girl anymore. If I ever have a doubt of that, I just listen to her speak. Nothing "baby" about that girl anymore!!

About the card---Riley is a stamp from Hanna Stamps. I love them all. The other parts of the card are from my Lizzie Annie Cowgirl set. I love to mix-and-match sets. That's the beauty of stamping. The paper is from My Mind's Eye. I love all their papers. The texture is so nice and thick. I had an idea for this card and drew it up. Usually that's where my best idea's stay. So many times that piece of paper doesn't work out to be what I wanted when I started but this was very close at the end. Riley was colored with Copics and then cut out to stand in front of the cactus. I couldn't find the right color ribbon to use so I cut a piece of the stripe card stock and just used the back side. Perfect match!!

I'm off to do something this morning. No I don't have a clue, but I really need to make something or at least pretend!!
