We're Off To The Beach

Oh my gosh, this week is finally going to end and then we're off to the beach for a week! I've been sick for the last two weeks with what we thought was an ear problem, but it turns out it was in the tube that leads to the ear. I've been taking mega medicine since Tuesday and I'm finally starting to feel a little bit better. I'm hoping the nice fresh ocean air with do the rest!

I've been trying to finish up all the "stuff" I needed to get done before we leave and I think I've got most of it done. All I have to do is head over to the post office and mail some packages out and then finish the wash, then pack, and, it seems a bunch more stuff! I've made a few cards to take to Celia and share with her. This is a set I made for her. I love this fun stamp from Stamping Bella. I just stamped all the pots twice and cut and popped up one set. I found this paper at my Hobby Lobby and wanted to use it for something. I've packaged up the cards in a nice clear box. Just have to add a ribbon and I'm good to go.

Everyone have a wonderful and safe holiday weekend. Please remember those who have severed our country and did it proudly. My own darling hubby is a veteran. An old one, but he still severed his country. I won't be checking in during the week, so I'll see you on the flip side!

Something That Flies

May's challenge over at SCS for the Dirty Girls and Dirty Alumni was to create a project or card that either had owls or something that's flying! Just perfect for me this month since I've been busy playing with my CHF Owl Set. I've already made at least six cards using this set. It's just so fun! Here is today's card.

It's the card that grew and grew some more. I started out with the blue base but I forgot to trim it down to fit a standard size card before I glued everything down, so it became a rather larger card that's 5x7. It's OK, cause it just gave me more room to show off more of the new Basic Grey papers. I love mixing and matching all the prints. The stars were punched out using the SU punch. I had several pieces of scrap papers on my desk that already had been run through the Cuttlebug and I just punched the stars out of those for added texture. The owl is colored with Copic markers and was stamped twice and the center of the owl was layered for some added fun!

I'm off to finish up projects and maybe get a little shopping done. Barry said I should try my clothes on I want to take to the beach, just in case. That's the problem he had. His shorts didn't fit! You might say we ate a little too much this winter!!

OH Monday, Monday...

can't trust that day. Do you remember the song? If you do, you're of a "certain" age and darn proud of it! It drives my son Evan nuts when I sing along in the car to songs and so that only makes me want to do it more! Silly boy!!

So how was your weekend? Barry worked both days. He has to finish a project before we go to Florida next weekend and I do think the overtime will be nice to come back to. Our friends came over for brunch yesterday and Gretchen bought me the cutest new stamp set. One I had talked about for days. Now if I could only remember where I put the set. I found it once after she left and moved it and now it's missing again. I know it will turn up again as soon as I'm not looking for it!

I worked on a few graduation cards to post this week on ebay. I sold a few cards this weekend. At least enough to buy some new play things when we're in Tampa. I did have some great news on Saturday. One of the reasons I write this blog is to keep up with friends and family and it really paid off this weekend. Our good friends from San Diego checked in with us to say they were going to be in Orlando near the same time! Celia has been my friend since High School and it's because of her that I know Barry. They dated back then and it's funny because after all the time that passes between visits, when we all get together, it's as if time has stopped! Her husband John, Barry, Celia, and I have such a good time when we get together. We're meeting them next Monday at Disney and staying the night. I didn't plan a trip to Disney this time, but it's always fun and well worth the time and money to visit with friends! Now to decide which park to go to! We've been at least 100 times to Disney, but we still enjoy going back.

Since it's going to be REALLY hot today in Dallas, near 100, I'm going to show you a card I made last Christmas. Maybe you saw it already, but I think it might cool us off a little. The snowman family says, hi, and keep cool!

Late, But Not Forgotten

Our cable when out this morning at 8 and we just got it back about an hour ago! I know, I felt lost without my computer all day and don't even say anything about the DVR not getting all the stuff it was suppose to tonight! My hubby is still working and he wanted to know how bored I was all day! Not too much. I did sleep away a good part of the day. I've been taking meds for my ear problem and they make me sleepy. Since I didn't have cable all day, it was a good day to nap! I did make a few cards this morning from images I stamped out last night. I like to stamp images out the night before so the ink has a good drying time and then I find the Copic markers don't run. Sometimes with the light colors, like yellow and pink, they do if I don't heat set and since I'm a lazy stamper, that doesn't happen very often. I even made a small effort to start cleaning up my studio so that on Sunday my friend Gretchen can find her way into the room with falling over!! I cleaned a path to the desk. I'm sure by Sunday it will be a mess again! I'm a very messy stamper. I know people who are the neatest when they create, and maybe I would be more creative if I was a bit neater, but I doubt that's going to happen any time soon. Of well.

Is he not the cutest fisher guy you've seen! I'm in love with Riley. I can't be the only "old " person who remember the TV show "Life of Riley", can I? I guess that's why I like these little guys so much. I'm glad I broke down and bought some and now I think I'll be breaking down some more! I used some of that new BG paper for this card too. It just seems perfect for the "guy" cards. I cuttle-bugged a piece for some added interest and then used some frog brads I bought almost a year ago at the Scrapbook show we've going to in June. I cut the head of the moose out twice and his hat three times so that when you see the card IRL, he's very cute. The verse is AMuse. Never can have too many Fish stamps!

Now that Riley had a taste of the playing hooky from work, he's just going to take another day off and go to the beach! I saw a card with a cat on it and it had sand and water, so I added some to this card by just drawing in the lines and added a bit of color and glitter to the Ocean. His head has been cut twice and I know it's hard to see, but I added brown Flock to his ears just for fun! I got the cute little verse stamp in a grab bad of goodies when Barry and I went for a ride to Austin. Perfect for this card, I think. I couldn't find any brads or buttons that would work for the card and since I had the SU stamp set out that had the birds, I stamped out the kites and added those with a bit of twine. That will be me in just 8 sleeps!!!

Fun New Image

When my friend came over last week she bought her set of stamps so I could have an image or two and this bike is one of them. I used my new Oval Spellbinders to cut it out and then just colored it in with copic markers and LOTS of glitter! The paper is Stampin Up as well. Can you believe I'm almost out of the wide green and red SU ribbon? Some one must be eating that stuff!  Anyway, this is the card. I used a stamp from Verve Visual for the Luck. It's really a pretty card.

I'm keeping this short and sweet today. For the second day in a row I'm a bit under the weather. I've had an ear ache and sore throat, so if it doesn't clear up in a day or two, I'll have to bite the Doctor bullet and go! Nothing I'm taking from over the counter seems to be helping. I did get the cards make I need for the Guest Designer project. It's due by May 20. Now I just have to take pictures and write it up. I'll start giving up hints next week, so be sure to come back!

Riley Is Ahead Of the Game

Don't you love it when you stamp something and it just speaks to you? I made this card yesterday and when Barry saw it, he said that it wasn't fair that Riley was already kickin' back at the beach and we had to wait another week and a half! Who would have thought that!~! I stamped Riley out twice and then cut his head off so I could layer it over the first one. I did the same with the tops of the trees. You gotta love this new Basic Grey. I think every time they come out with a new collection it's the best and then another one comes along and I say the same thing. I liked this so much I had to order two of the 6x6 pads of the paper. I think it's going to be a great addition for my cards.

Another came and another electric thing seemed to break in my house. In the last week my memory card for the camera has died, my dvr had to be reset, and now my cell phone seems to be acting up! Yesterday it would work sometimes and then sometimes not. I do have to get dressed and take it up to the phone store and see just what the heck is going on. I don't need to lay out any more money this month. I would love to have some extra for our trip to the beach.

I've found several scrapbook stores in the Tampa area. I'm saving all the info so I can print it out to take with me. It seems like there are more stores in that area then we now have in Dallas. So many of the stores have closed this winter. I'm sure it must cost so much to run a "real" store as opposed to an on line one, but there is nothing like being able to touch and feel the real stuff. I can't wait to have a new scrapbook adventure!

I really must get the wash done today. I was suppose to yesterday, but I got busy working on cards and then the whole day seemed to get away from me. I did talk to my GF Gretchen last night and I'm so excited that we'll be seeing her and her hubby this weekend for Sunday brunch. Now I have to think of what to make. Something quick and easy, I'm sure, so the girls can get to the real purpose to the day---playing in the happy room!

Sometimes Life Is So Good

Did you ever wonder why there are some days that are so good and others so lousy? Why do you wake up one day and the world is wonderful and other days it's Grey and rainy? Yesterday was Mother's Day and I had one of those special Good Days. Barry bought me new pair of Blue Mary Jane Crocs, that I had picked out. He won't know, so I had to help. We were picked up by Evan to meet the rest of the family for an early lunch and I got a gift certificate to ebay from Larry's family. Madelyn made me a wonderful magnet to hold more of her artwork and then when we went to the baseball game, Evan bought me a pretty pink Rangers hat! By the time we came home it was dinnertime. Barry did offer to take me out, but all I wanted to do was get in my PJ's so we ate at home. I'd say it was a very blessed day!

I made a card similar to this for Madelyn but hers say "5" instead of 4 like this one. I used some fun new Owls from Cornish Heritage Farms. They are so darling. I used some of the newest Basic Grey papers and colored in the images with my Copic markers. I did a little doodle around the edges. Don't you just love it? Madelyn was really impressed with her card too.

Today is going along great, too. Barry has a meeting tonight so I have the whole day to myself. It's noon and I'm still in my PJ's. I've been stamping up a storm. I sold most of the cards this weekend and now I need to make more to sell. I've sold cards for prices that I've never seen before. Barry is so proud of my work. His mother is too, but it's great when other people put a high value on it too. I've got great friends that stand behind me and cheer me on and that means the world to me. So for all of you out there, a big CHEER!

Happy Mother's Day

Just a quick note to say Happy Mother's Day to all who celebrate! I'm busy getting ready to spend the day with my family and I hope everyone will have a chance to enjoy the day. I'll be back tomorrow with something new to show, so until then....

Gee, Another Friday

It's hard to believe the week has gone by! Where did it go? I don't think I got done all the things I planned to do this week and now it's Friday! Tomorrow we're going to Madelyn's birthday pool party for her and her friends. A co-worker is letting them use their pool for the party---it's a Lula! Right up Grandpa's alley! He's digging those beads out right now to wear tomorrow. She's 5 already! Then on Sunday we're having an early lunch with the kids at Cotton Patch and then Larry, Evan, Madelyn, Barry and I are going to the Rangers Baseball game. Evan asked me what I wanted to do for Mother's Day and I really wanted to go to a game. Mom's even get a free Rangers hat--with near diamonds on the front!! Very classy look, I'm sure! I'm just happy to spend it with my boys. What more could a mom ask for?

I got my new Cornish Farms Stamps the other day and finally cut them last night. They are a dream to use and so easy to make a card with. I used some of the newest Basic Grey papers and a lot of Night of Navy ink. The owls are colored using Copic markers and alot of blending. I stamped two large owls out and cut the center part out from one. He's layered with pop dots and on the cap I used crystal effects from SU. I really love how this card turned out!

People R So Nice

It's come to my attention that for every nut that's out there, there is 10 more kind, warm and loving folks out in the world. I post on this site because I really enjoy sharing my work. I hope that other crafters will like it and that friends and family will be able to keep a watch over me this way, so when someone takes the time to let me know that they enjoy reading about my up and down life, it really touches the heart! Thanks to my many good friends!

I heard from another of those friends the other day and she asked when I was going to be making some more cards using the Wild About You set. It's been awhile since I pulled it out and now thanks to Cris, here is the latest card. I love how it turned out and I sure hope it sells well on ebay. Everything is popped up so it's very 3-D. I added the tree from my monkey set along with the leaves that also came with the set. I've had this copper hardware for sometime and since I used copper glitter on the tree, it went fine!

Well, off I go to play land. My studio is calling my name. Ok, maybe it's calling NAPTIME, but at least it's calling me!
