Is Ribbon A Sickness?

I don't know about anybody else's husband, spouse, partner or friends, but why do people feel they can ask such a personal question like "don't you have enough ribbon"? I know it's there sickness, not mine! What is "enough" ribbon? I have bags, boxes, and bins full of ribbon. Ribbon I'm sure that I don't even know I have, and still it's never the perfect shade, color, or print. How can that be? All this brings me to the point of "sickness" or not...I got an email from the place I love to buy Ribbons and Bows Oh MY and of course I had to check it out. So I broke down and bought a few new pieces of ribbon. Is the world going to come to an end when I get to touch those new stitched pieces of ribbon, or some new 5/8" colors of grosgrain? No world ending thing, I hope, but sheer joy at opening the package and smelling the smell of new ribbon! Sheer Joy!

I've been a little under the weather the last few days with those old timers aches and pains and then last night Barry and I took Evan to Red Lobster for dinner. It was his birthday day. You have to understand that I DON'T eat seafood at all, except tuna fish with lots of mayo, so it was a grand thing for me to do. Barry really loved his meal. Lobster tail and clam chowder for dinner. Evan had some shrimp and me, well I had chicken strips. I don't want to say something was wrong, but before I even left the parking lot, I started to feel bad. So bad I didn't think I was going to make it home, but no fear, I did. I spend the next several hours in the bathroom with an upset tummy. I thought there can't be anything left until I got up this morning and it started all over again! I've had some tea and toast and all seems well now. So that's my day.

I posted this cute Chickie card that I made over the weekend. IRL it's so fresh looking, just like a Spring day. The chick paper and the pink w/yellow polka dots is from Paper Salon and the plaid is from my boy DCVW stack. I gave the bird's body a few dots with my gold gel pen.

My Baby Reaching My Age

I'll told my kids I'm 33 for a long time and that's the story I'm sticking to! It works for me until one of them gets to that age and now it's my "baby's" turn! He'll be 33, for the first time, on Wednesday. Last night we had the whole gang over including Jackson who is 2. My son and DIL were babysitting for the week with him. A real cutie. Gretchen and Fred (good friends) and the my kids were all over for dinner. There's my birthday boy with his favorite gals right near him! We'll be going out on Wednesday with just him to celebrate. Madelyn got a haircut this week and she looks so grown up now. She's almost 5. Time sure does fly!

We didn't do much else over the weekend. It was one of those nice quite weekends where Barry got to rest up. He's been really busy at the new job and worked some long days last week. We slept last Saturday and Sunday which was much needed! I did make a card for Evan's birthday.

Fun looking card? I think so. The card is a little different in size. It's 3 1/2 x 6. I really like this size card. I saw lots of them made on SCS and thought I'd give it a try. I wanted to mat the cake on a large square, but didn't have one punch that could do that so I punched two out and then taped them together under the white mate and then it worked fine. I stamped and cut the presents out too. This is a sale-a-brations set from SU. It's so easy to mount because they come really to pop out and put on the wood. Couldn't be easier! The neat part is inside the card. I forget to take a picture of it, but I added a strip of paper about 2" wide across the bottom of the card with just 3 edges taped down. That way I had a "money" holder to put his gift in! I'm sure I'll be doing this again.

Small World

You know they say there is no idea that somebody hasn't already thought out, but with crafters it really rings true. I had pulled out a set of stamps that I had never inked before yesterday to play with and was trying to decide what colors to make the image when I went blog surfing. There is a wonderful stamper whom I've known for years on a board we used to be on. I couldn't believe she had put into colors the image I was trying so hard to make do with! Sherrie made my job so much easier to do! Go and check out her card because she has a wonderful light airy touch to her work that really makes it special. Here is my copy of hers! I love the way it turned out for a first time. OK, so I had to stamp the image several times to get it right, who doesn't? This is another of those "headless wonders" from MFT. I just think they are so cute and work up so quickly. Isn't that what we want, quick and easy, but good lookin'? The paper is from a stack I got last year from Making Memories. It got stuck in the whole pile of stacks, but since it has an "aged" look to it, I though it would be good for a beachy theme. Have a said how much I enjoy the dew drops I keep using? You must try some of these. They just add a bit of fun to a card or project.

We don't have alot of plans for the weekend except on Sunday. Our son Evan's birthday is Wednesday but we are having a family get together on Sunday to celebrate his first 33 birthday! All the kids will be coming to dinner and our good friends Gretchen and her hubby Fred are joining us. I plan on cooking a huge pot of meatballs. It's a favorite of my family and since we will be so many, they go a long way. The big question now is what to make for dessert! That's the all important thing with my gang!

Friday Yet?

It must be Friday, except I see I have to take the trash out and that's when it hits me...it's only Thursday! Bummer! Oh well, I guess I'll have to make the most of Thursday then! I had set a goal of making four cards yesterday and I came pretty close to that. I think two was as close as I was going to get, but I did finish up one of those half done cards from yesterday. I think she's pretty darn cute! Check her out!!

She's my Inky Antics coffee gal. She's modern and funny and everything I want to be. She's even built like me---no waist, all boobs and short little legs! And she's cheering someone on, a thing or two I know something about! All the pieces of paper are from that DCWV scrap pad that I grown to love so much. In fact, when I was out yesterday, on my way to Wally World, I had to stop at Joann's and see if anything new came in. NOTHING, but the 50% sale was still on and this time I broke down and bought the 8x8 size pad of this same paper. I think it's going to be great for any season, including Christmas. Using up some more of those pretty prima flowers and my red double sided Bo Bunny polka dot ribbon. I used my while gel pen to make her coffee cup match. She's doing what she does best---cheering you on to have another fine day!

I have more goals for today. I just can't remember what they were. I'm sure they included finding a path to my desk. And I'm sure they included something about finishing Barry's shirts that I started two days ago and finally I know they included a thing or two about cleaning the bathrooms. After all, the kids are coming on Sunday for Evan's birthday and if I don't start soon, I'll never get the house done. It does take me awhile!

Love My Friends

I know it's hard to see but I used my new CB Pin Dot folder for the yellow part of the card. I was going to stamp the words on a piece of paper that didn't have the pin dots, but thought, what the heck, I'll try and it came out just fine! This darling image is from MFT. I know some folks are a little freaked out by the "headless" wonders, but I enjoy working with them. I wanted something really springy looking since it's been so nice the last few days in Dallas. I paper pieced the coat and then got carried away with the prima flowers. It's going to be my new goal. Get Carried Away Using Up Some Of The Many Bottles of Prima Flowers!

I seem to be having the hardest time getting into the swing of creating since Barry has gone back to work. Yesterday I felt so blessed that I made three cards! It took me all day to that and two loads of dirty clothes. Oh yea, I got the dishes done too, so that's got to count for more! They are my downfall! Today I'm going to try and make at least four cards. I think I have to work my way back to the mojo thing!

Yesterday I went looking all over the net for a place that sold the Tilda stamps here in the states, but I didn't find anyplace, so I put out an SOS from friends for stamped images. A wonderful stamper from one of the communities I visit on line is swapping me some images. I just love having so many "stamping sisters"! Always willing to lend a hand or a shoulder to lean on! I have met the best people from my little addiction that I have come to care about and trust. Thank you all so much for being the best!

Hello Monday!

I can't believe Barry is starting his third week of work at his new job! And I seem to get more lazy every week! I thought I'd enjoy all the time to myself to work on projects, but it seems now that I have all this time, all I really want to do is nothing all by myself! I created a cute card with a set of Papertray stamps that I've had a while, but haven't used often lately. I made this card using some great paper from a DCVW stack I got at J's last week for 50% off. It's such a nice clean looking card in person. I used some BoBunny polka dot ribbon for the first time. The neat thing about this ribbon is that its dots are on both side! Cool, right!

We had dinner with our friends Gretchen and her hubby Fred Saturday night. It's always good to see them. Fred travels alot so it's nice to be able to get together with them both.

Now it's time to vent just a bit about making handmade greeting cards. Yesterday and again this morning I got emails from people asking about buying a bulk load of cards. One was for 20 cards and the other was 30 cards. I know, that's alot and since I don't usually make two cards alike, it would be a lot of work. I gave them both what I thought was a good price for my cards and the first "buyer" was in shock that I would charge that much and the second said it was "too rich" for her blood! Somehow I think they both thought that I would be giving away my work! I remember those days when I would sell a card for $2 and be happy that I got that much for it, but NOT anymore! Work takes time and good cards take good products and I used a lot of products on my cards! Oh well, so much for the big sales today. I guess it's going to make me a little bit longer to become a millionaire card marker!!

Hold The Rain!

It's rained and then rained some more down here in Dallas. It's suppose to rain and hail this afternoon. I don't mind the rain in the summer when it's nice and warm, but this rain is down right cold! Not to mention gloomy too. It should be a good day to stay inside and work on some cards, but then again, maybe it's a good day to stay in bed and keep warm!

Aren't they cute? I love the lips are these gals! Lipstick isn't suppose to be straight, is it? Since my top lip seems to have left town these days, I don't even bother with lipstick anymore! Old age here I come!

I'm hoping my GF Gretchen is feeling better. We're trying to get together with her and her hubby for some pizza from our favorite place tonight. I made her a card for a surprise, but don't tell her! I also got 5 new Cuttlebug folders yesterday in the mail and I think I'll have to share the wealth with her. I can't wait to open the packages and try out the Pin Dot one.

So, if you were a corner punch lost in my studio, where would you be hiding? I can't seem to find the punch that I use everyday and love the most. I must have dropped off my desk and now I guess I'll have to tear several large baskets that hold "stuff" under my desk out to try and find it. I just hope it didn't end up in the trash that went out on Thursday! That would break my heart.

I have to go and do something now before the mood wears off. It can be gone in a flash--know what I mean? I think I'll go make some more Easter cards. They make it seem bright and sunny!

Movin' On!

I hope everyone had a great Valentine's Day and someone told you that they cared about you--even if it was the warm wet nose of your beloved pet. That counts big time in my book! It's cold and rainy down there in Dallas today and it's suppose to be more of the same for the next few days, so I'm breaking out the Easter stamps. I got this new set from My Favorite Things and I just love it. I made this card using one of the two bunnies from the set and an egg stamp I picked up at M's for $. I found the paper in my paper stash. It was just two small pieces near each other, but I think they worked together great! Enjoy the card!

I cut the eggs out and Mr Bunny as well. I didn't want them to have the back round paper showing through. There is lots and lots of glitter on this card too.

We don't have anything planned for the weekend. Nice a nice quite one so far. I'm sure they'll be lots of "stuff" to do. You know, Sam's, Tom Thumb, and maybe a nice $ movie in the afternoon! I'm hoping to maybe get some work done in my happy room too. Have a wonderful weekend and hurry back soon. Happy Engagment Day!

Yup, Barry and I got engaged 38 years ago today! My first and last Valentine's Day present! Oh well, there have been a few in between, but mostly it's just another day. He says he can't top the first one, so why try! I told him last night I didn't even make him a card. I want it to be a surprise and I'll just slip the bill for Hobby Lobby in the card!! I have discovered that I need a new Copic Blender pen. Too bad I've already been to HL this week. I guess I'll just have to go again!

I don't have any new cards to share today. I'm busy working on some, but nothing to post yet, so I'll share a card I made last year. It's really one of my favorites. It has so much glitter and glam. It's made using all SU products. I don't seem to use this stamp set enough anymore. It's funny how that happens. I move on to others as soon as I get them. I have made a pact with myself to try and use up some of the "stash" papers and pull out the long forgotten sets. It's either that or sell them on ebay. I'm thinking ebay is easier and then I get more money to buy new with!! It's a sickness I tell you, a real sickness!!

Just wanted everyone to be as happy as I am about a sale! OK, so 50% off really does make my heart sing I guess! Check out these cards that I made using a my new pad from DCVW. I have the "boy" pad already, but at the sale price I thought I might need the "girl" color pad too! I know I used this layout before but why not use a good thing again. This time I made it in the pale "baby" colors. I love how it turned out. I'm sorry now that I only bought the small size stack when I should have bought the 8x8 size. Oh well, I was trying to be cheap! They also have there glue on sale at 40% off, so I stocked up on that too!

The second card is made using the same pad, just some different papers. I found this bunny stamp in my stash from last year and the "happy" I got on sale at Hobby Lobby. Isn't this darling? It called out to me!
